During the 1920s, America was in a time called the Jazz Age. This period was so well known because of different social behavior, Prohibition and the rise in production of alcohol, and the new music known as jazz and ragtime. Jazz played a big part in this era because it showed the wild culture change. There was also major economic changes including, business inovation, government spending cuts, demand for products, mass advertising, and high tariffs. This growth of urban industry led to an economic boom for most Americans. However, not everyone shared in this prosperity. For example, minorities and farmers did not prosper because of a great deal of competition with Europe. In addition, our county underwent major culture and social change. Major achievments took place such as, women earn the right to vote, and art and literatue become a major part in American life. Unfortunatley, the fear of communism grew. Labor strikes occurred and also racial tensions grew. For some Americans these changes marked a new way of life and for others it meant a total loss in what they valued.
